The short historical survey: At the beginning of the 20 century one of the most popular, decorative dogs in Russia were the English toy-terriers, however the socialist revolution and then the established authoritarian regime have ruined nearly all live-stock . Only in the middle of the 50-th years, when the stalinskyi regime has collapsed, the possibility has appeared for the re-establishment of the breed. Almost all gathering dogs firstly were without genealogy, many of them were not of the pure breed. In accordance with the arising political situation in that time in the country, the russia dog-fanciers did not consider themselves obliged to be submit to the standards, adopted in the capitalist countries and for many breeds confirmed their standards. The standard which was made up to the toy-terriers sharply has turned out to be different from the standard of the English toy-terrier by the mane of the principle positions, and from that moment the development of the breed in russia has gone by its way.
In 1957 from the two shot-haired dogs one of the which had slightly the oblong hair, was born a he-dog with the effective flocks on the ears and extremities. The decision was adopted to fix it in the posterity and it was coupled with she-dog also having slightly the oblong hair. So the long-haired variant of the toy-terrier was got under the name of the Moscow region long-haired toy-terrier, the special role has played the dog-fancier Zhrova Eugenia Fominichna. In the course of the long period isolated development and selection in the specific direction the new breed was raised - the Russian toy-terrier in its two variations - shot-haired and long-haired.
The general exterior: The little, elegant dog, active, high-legged, the square size. With a thin skeleton and the dry muscles. As to the type of the hair there are two varieties - shot-haired and long-haired. The sexual type is expressed morphologically poorly however it is visible brightly in the conduct. The height of the withers is 18-26 centimeters, possibly up to the 28 centimeters.
The peculiarities of the conduct: Aktive, very cheerful, not cowardly and not malicious.
The head: Little, refined, dry. The cranial part is high but not wide (the width in the check-bones doesn't exceed the height of the skull) with the plane check-bones, rounded by the inspection in the profile. Teeth: Are not large, white. The bite is like scissors. The straight bite or the alveolar inclination are permissible, but undesirable.
Neck: Long, dry, of the high putting slightly is curved.
Body: Compact. The line of the top fluently drops from the withers to the basic of the tail. The withers is slightly expressed. The back is strong and straight.. The small of the back is short slightly prominent. The croup somewhat is rounded and a little inclined. The tail is short cut off (leave 2-3 vertebras) the dog holds it merrily upwards. The chest is enough deep, not wide, the oval form, comes to the level of the elbows. The belly is pulled very good.

Coloring: Black-tan, brown-piebald, blue with a scorch and also redhead of the any shade with blackness or brown or without them. By any coloring is preferred the saturated pigmentation. Colorings black, blue, cheprachnyi, aguti, the presence of the tiger, the superfluous size of the scorches and also is not the big white mark on the chest and the toes are undesirable.
The hair integument: There are two varieties - shot-haired and long-haired.
Shot-haired: The hair is short, closely adjoining, shining without underhair and the bald spots.
Long-haired: The body is covered temperately with the length (3-5 centimeters) straight or slightly wavy adjoining hair not hiding the natural contours of the trunk. The hair on the head, muzzle, the forelegs is short and closely adjoining. On the extremities from the back side the hair is long in the form of the flocks clearly are limited from the main hair integument. In the adult dogs older three years, the bringe is to hide completely the external edge and the tip of the ears. The hair on the trunk is not to look disheveled or too short (less 2 centimeters)
